My biography in english

Thomas Lavachery, a Belgian born in 1966, living in Brussels, first started as a cartoonist, publishing his first stories at the age of 18, in the comic book “Tintin”. This was followed by recreating the animation series “Téléchat” by Roland Topor, in comic book format.  He studied art history at the University of Brussels, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Henri Lavachery, who was a museum curator, archaeologist and lover of the primitive arts. After several odd jobs, he joins Y.C. Aligator Film as literary consultant.  That avenue brings him to documentary film making, first as “script doctor” and then as director. He is the author of two films: “Un monde sans père ni mari” (A World Without Fathers or Husbands) which is about the Mosos, a Chinese people of  liberal sexuality who do not believe in marriage. His second film, “L’Homme de Pâques” (The Man from Easter Island), retraces the scientific expedition of his grandfather to Easter Island in the 1930’s. Published in 2002, he writes “Bjorn le Morphir”, inspired by a story that he would tell his son Jean. Published by L’Ecole des Loisirs, the adventures of Bjorn has reached seven volumes as of today. In 2006 Thomas Lavachery receives the “Prix Sorcières”, and publishes two stories whose hero is Jojo the monkey. He is a juror for the Wallonie-Bruxelles “littérature de jeunesse” and teaches a Masters seminar at the Charles de Gaulle University (Lille3) called Practical on Writing for Youth.
